Background

Mr Satyajit Naique is a renowned orthopaedic consultant, whose practice is based in central and north London. He qualified as an orthopaedic surgeon in 1998, with an MS degree (Gold Medal) in orthopaedics from Mumbai, India. He gained further orthopaedic training in the north west London orthopaedic specialist surgical programme from the London Deanery. During this period, he was awarded the G B Ong Gold Medal when he completed his FRCS exams at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He successfully completed the FRCS Orth and was awarded the certificate of completion of higher surgical training in 2007. He completed a year’s fellowship in hip and knee arthroplasty and revision surgery at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, UK in 2007. He also completed a trauma fellowship in managing complex trauma. He was appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London in 2008.

Mr Naique has extensive experience of lower limb surgery and trauma. On the elective side, he specialises in arthroplasty of the hip and knee (including partial replacement) and revision surgery. He also undertakes knee arthroscopy and foot and ankle surgery. He uses the enhanced recovery pathway for all his joint replacements, causing minimal patient discomfort and promoting early recovery.

Mr Naique is a highly accomplished trauma surgeon with a special expertise and interest in complex fractures and open injuries. He is proficient in the use of Ilizarov Frames for the treatment of limb deformities and un-united fractures. He undertakes surgery for limb deformity correction, limb lengthening, non-union and infections. Much of this experience has been gained in the treatment of infected and neglected fractures in India, where he worked extensively at a leading tertiary care hospital. He is one of the first orthopaedic surgeons in the world to successfully use TL-Hex Frames (third generation deformity correction devices) and is involved in actively developing the system further. He is one of the leading surgeons for the specialism for management of open fractures and a principal surgeon in the ortho-plastics team at Imperial College Healthcare. He runs a hospital based observership course for consultants wishing to undertake lower limb reconstructive work using frames.

Mr Naique is engaged in teaching on courses both in the UK and across Europe, including in Paris, and Padua and Verona, Italy. He has also presented and published in the UK, Europe and in North America.
